Internet,
since its creation and implementation to the public, has brought up many
benefits to most of our society. Communicating is now easier than ever,
information has become more and more readily available through the internet, since its
creation and implementation to the public, has brought up many benefits to most
of our society. Introverts can now have their very
own online girlfriends. They're not only on the web though, they come as apps
and games as well across many other platforms. And in recent times, their
growth from simple decision tree games such as Date Ariane to full-out AI
systems such as Microsoft's Ruuh hasn't gone unnoticed.
Relationships
and sex is at the core of human essence, and a ubiquitous platform such as the
internet didn't take long to catch up. In the beginnings, it wasn't through
games and definitely not AI that you 'met' your online girlfriend. Chat Rooms
are at the core of it all. These were the first form of the online girlfriend,
two real humans (not always a man and a woman) talking through the anonymity
provided by these instant messaging platforms, the new ideal playground for the
introvert. Stories go as far back as the times of Windows 95, and at the end of
the post you can find the link (the top one) to a story of 'true love' in these
circumstances.
Chat Rooms
grew and exploded into the 2000's, from places such as Omegle and even taking a
turn to a more sexual side in other places as Chaturbate. Their popularity
could be said didn't please everyone, especially the introverts who now faced
themselves in a crowded place. With this, the appearance of the first basic
online girlfriends ('sex buddies' in some cases), that had no human on the
other side, grew rapidly in popularity.
With the start
of the fourth industrial revolution and the rise and appearance of Artificial
Intelligence, it was only a matter of time until it was put into applications
in regards to relationships and sex. Their popularity is higher than ever, and
given how close some AI are to passing the Turing Test, one day we might not be
able to distinguish what's on our computer to who's on our side.
